Sri Vijaya Puram, 09 Oct: A tragic incident was reported at Chatham Power House on October 6, in which an electrician working under the Electricity Department reportedly died after suffering an electric shock while working on an electrical panel.
According to information available, the electrician was carrying out work at the power house panel when he allegedly received an electric shock and was thrown away from the spot. People nearby rushed to his assistance and immediately took him to G.B. Pant Hospital for medical treatment.
Considering his condition, he was reportedly referred to Chennai for advanced medical care. However, despite treatment, the electrician succumbed to his injuries in Chennai.
The incident has caused concern over the safety of personnel engaged in electrical maintenance and operations.
According to preliminary information, the mortal remains of the deceased are expected to be brought back to Sri Vijaya Puram on October 10 for the final rites., Further details are awaited.
