BJP State President Raises Key Infrastructure Issues of Swaraj Dweep with Lt Governor

Delegation Seeks Early Commissioning of 2 MW Power Plant and Water Tank, Drinking Water Solutions, Road Improvements, Fish Market Modernisation and Anganwadi Upgrades

A delegation of BJP Public representatives, Karyakartas and residents of
Swaraj Dweep today met Shri Anil Kumar Tiwari, State President, BJP, A & N
Islands and put forth a few demands before them. Following this the State
President, BJP, met the Hon’ble Lt Governor Dr Dinesh Sharma today (8 th
October) and requested him to intervene and resolve the below given public
demands, during his scheduled visit to Swaraj Dweep (tomorrow) 9 th Oct
2026.
The important demands include immediate inauguration of ‘operational
ready’ 2 MW power plant to resolve the power cut problem of Swaraj Dweep
by strengthening the capacity to 5.4 MW from the existing 3.4 MW.
An overhead pre-fabricated 2 lakh litre capacity water tank and required
pipelines behind the Shyam Nagar Panchayat is ready for inauguration. This,
if inaugurated immediately, the water crisis will be greatly resolved and
more than 4000 residents of the area will get relief.
Similarly another demand includes resolving the drinking water problem at
Vijay Nagar village. The Karyakartas opined that construction of an overhead
water tank at ‘Kachuva Tikri’ and laying of pipeline till Vijay Nagar Village will
resolve the problem of the village.
Another important demand has been regarding the improvement of the road
connecting Jetty to Radha nagar (NH 4) and Road connecting jetty to Kala
Pathar (NH-5) as soon as possible.

The villagers also emphasized the need for immediate repair and
improvement of about 2 km long road from Krishna Nagar to Kattai Basti to
help the village residents.
The fishers demanded the up-gradation of ramp and modernization of the
Fish Market situated at Govind Nagar. The completion of this work will
directly benefit more 300 fishermen and their family.
The women of Krishna Nagar Forest Dera area demanded immediate
inauguration of newly constructed Anganwadi Centre and also demanded the
immediate repair and upgradation of Krishna Nagar (6.5 Km) Anganwadi
Centre, which is in bad shape.
