Baratang, September 21: As part of the Annual Training Calendar of Fire Station Baratang, a training programme on “First Aid, Fire Fighting and Disaster Mitigation” was conducted at Government Middle School (GMS), South Creek, Baratang, on September 21.

The programme was aimed at creating awareness among school students and staff about basic fire safety, first aid, firefighting techniques and disaster preparedness.

As part of the session, a tabletop exercise was conducted to familiarise the participants with appropriate responses during emergency situations. This was followed by a practical demonstration on the operational techniques and safe handling of portable fire extinguishers.

The demonstration provided participants with practical knowledge on the use of fire extinguishers and the importance of taking timely and appropriate action during the initial stages of a fire emergency.

A total of 54 students, eight teachers and one Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) member participated in and benefited from the training programme.

The Fire Station Baratang initiative is part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen fire-safety awareness and disaster preparedness among students and members of the community, particularly by providing practical knowledge that can help in responding effectively to emergencies.
