Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct. 3:

The Commander-in-Chief, Andaman and Nicobar Command (ANC), Vice Admiral Shri Vineet McCarthy, paid a courtesy call on the Hon’ble Lt. Governor, Dr. Dinesh Sharma, at Lok Niwas.

During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on maritime security of the Islands, strategic challenges and other matters of importance concerning the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Dr. C. Sivaperuman, Additional Director and Officer-in-Charge, Zoological Survey of India (ZSI), also paid a courtesy call on the Hon’ble Lt. Governor. Discussions were held on various important issues relating to environmental protection, biodiversity conservation and other matters concerning the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

In continuation, Smt. M. Vasanta, Chairperson, Sri Vijaya Puram Municipal Council; Shri P. Ummer, Chairperson, South Andaman Zilla Parishad; Shri Devvrat Das, Pradhan, along with their respective delegations, called on the Hon’ble Lt. Governor. Various issues concerning local bodies and Panchayati Raj Institutions were discussed during the meeting.

The Hon’ble Lt. Governor emphasised that the overall development of the Islands, environmental and biodiversity conservation, and maritime security would continue to receive the highest priority.
