Sri Vijaya Puram, September 23: BJP City District President Jitender Narayan has raised concerns over the reported non-distribution of refilled LPG cylinders in several areas of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands and urged the Andaman and Nicobar Administration to take immediate steps to address the issue.
In a letter submitted to the Chief Secretary, Andaman and Nicobar Administration, Narayan stated that he had received complaints from Ward Members, Municipal Councillors, Pradhans and members of the general public regarding difficulties in obtaining refilled LPG cylinders.
According to the letter, residents in various areas have reportedly been facing difficulties in receiving LPG refills for several months. Narayan also highlighted the difficulties faced by women, elderly persons and other consumers who, according to his representation, have been waiting for LPG refills without receiving clear information regarding the distribution schedule.
Narayan requested the Chief Secretary to issue necessary directions to the concerned authorities for the immediate distribution of pending LPG cylinders and to ensure better coordination among the agencies involved in LPG supply and distribution.
Ward-Wise and Panchayat-Wise Distribution Schedule Sought, A key demand raised in the representation was the preparation of a timely and advance LPG distribution schedule covering municipal wards and panchayats.
Narayan requested that the date and time of LPG distribution in each locality be communicated to residents in advance through appropriate public-information channels, including local media and official communication platforms. According to him, advance information would help reduce the need for residents to wait for long periods without clarity about the availability of LPG refills.
Narayan also referred to the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana and stressed the importance of ensuring access to clean cooking fuel for households, particularly in island communities.
The BJP leader urged the Administration to treat the LPG supply and distribution issue as a matter of urgency and issue necessary directions to the concerned authorities at the earliest.
The representation comes amid concerns raised by residents in different areas regarding the availability and distribution of LPG cylinders. The response of the concerned authorities and distributors regarding the supply and distribution schedule will be important for consumers awaiting refills.
