633 Snakebite Cases Reported in 2025–26; No Deaths Recorded with Timely Treatment

Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct. 1: The general public of A&N Islands have been informed that, Polyvalent Anti Snake Venom is available in all the Primary Health Centers, Community Health Centers, District Hospital and Referral Hospital of A & N Islands, for the treatment of snakebite cases. This polyvalent anti snake venom takes care of all kinds of snake bite cases found in the region. Further, it is also informed that, a qualified Medical Officer is available 24x7 in all the above said Health Care Facilities for treating snakebite cases.

During the Financial year 2025–26, a total of 633 snakebite cases (including Out-Patient Dept. & In-Patient Dept.) were reported across the A & N Islands. Owing to the availability of timely treatment and the robust snakebite management system in place, no death due to snakebite was reported during the year. The general public have been advised to seek immediate medical attention in the event of a snakebite and to approach the nearest health care facility without delay.
