North & Middle Andaman District Police secured a conviction in FIR No. 46/2024
dated 13.09.2024, registered under Sections 103/238(a) BNS, 2023 at PS Kalighat.
On 01.10.2026, the Hon’ble Court of the Additional Sessions Judge, North & Middle Andaman
District, Mayabunder, sentenced the accused to Imprisonment for Life.
The case pertains to a violent incident at Nabagram, on 13.09.2024, wherein,
following a trivial altercation with his friend, the accused attacked him with an axe,
resulting in his death.
The case was promptly registered at PS Kalighat and investigated by Sub-
Inspector Ashok Kumar Baghel, the then SHO of PS Kalighat. The investigation was
carried out through a comprehensive and meticulous examination of the crime scene, a
visit by the Scene of Crime Officer (SOCO), forensic examination, and collection of
relevant scientific evidence.
The technical and professional investigation, systematic collection of evidence,
and its effective presentation before the Hon’ble Court played a significant role in
securing the conviction and life imprisonment of the accused.
