On the occasion of the birth anniversaries of Mahatma Gandhi and Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri, the Hon’ble Lt. Governor, Dr. Dinesh Sharma, paid floral tributes and respectfully remembered the two great national leaders at Gandhi Park, Sri Vijaya Puram, on October 2.

Addressing the gathering on the occasion, the Hon’ble Lt. Governor called upon the people to imbibe the ideals of truth, non-violence, cleanliness and simplicity espoused by Mahatma Gandhi in their daily lives. He said that Gandhiji’s thoughts and ideals continue to guide the nation in its journey of nation-building.

Drawing inspiration from Mahatma Gandhi’s consistency between his words and actions, the Hon’ble Lt. Governor urged every citizen to contribute towards realising the vision of a Viksit Bharat. He reiterated his commitment to ensuring the active participation of local people in the development of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, promoting tribal welfare, and generating employment opportunities through tourism.

The programme was attended by Shri Gyanesh Bharti, IAS, Chief Secretary; Shri Ravindra Singh Yadav, IPS, Director General of Police; Dr. Sanjay Kumar Sinha, IFS, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests; Ms. Chanchal Yadav, IAS, Commissioner-cum-Secretary; Dr. Sachin Shinde, IAS, Commissioner-cum-Secretary; Adhyaksh, ZPSA, Shri P. Ummer, Smt. M. Vasanta, Chairperson, SVPMC, along with senior officers of the Administration, Police and Forest Departments and public representatives.
