Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct. 8: The Department of Agriculture, Andaman and Nicobar Administration, has initiated the supply of fertilizers & other Agriculture inputs to Swaraj Dweep to ensure timely availability of essential agricultural inputs to the farming community for the ensuing Rabi season.
As part of the initiative, the first consignment comprising 0.50 MT of DAP, 0.45 MT of NC Urea along with other agricultural inputs such as Sprayers, Traps, Nano DAP and Nano Urea, was dispatched today, i.e. 08.10.2026, from MV Wandoor for transportation to Swaraj Dweep. The consignment is aimed at meeting the fertilizer and agricultural input requirements of farmers and ensuring uninterrupted availability of essential nutrients and inputs during the crop season
The availability of fertilizers will facilitate farmers in following balanced nutrient application and adopting Integrated Nutrient Management (INM) practices. This will help in maintaining soil health and improving agricultural productivity, particularly in vegetable cultivation, which is an important component of farming activities in Swaraj Dweep. The Department of Agriculture is closely monitoring the movement, availability and distribution of fertilizers to ensure that the consignment reaches farmers in a timely manner through the designated distribution mechanism.
The Department has also informed that further requirements will be assessed based on demand and availability and additional supplies will be arranged as required to ensure adequate availability of fertilizers for farmers throughout the Rabi season.
